Room for everyone, and a clean move in
Separate profiles for everyone on the PC, your bookmarks and history brought over from your old browser, extensions straight from the Chrome Web Store, and updates that install themselves safely.
Profiles
A separate Vex for work, school or anyone else on the PC. Each profile has its own tabs, bookmarks, history, passwords, extensions, sync account and cookies, and runs in its own window, so two can be open at once.
Import from your old browser
Bring your bookmarks (folders and all) and history over from Chrome, Edge, Brave or Firefox on this PC, see what will be added, and undo it if you change your mind. Passwords come from a file you export yourself — Vex never reads another browser’s saved passwords.
Chrome Web Store extensions
Open an extension’s Web Store page and click Add to Vex. Vex fetches it from Google’s own update server and installs it only when the developer’s and the Web Store’s signatures check out.
Updates that install themselves
Vex downloads the new version itself, checks it against the release’s SHA-512 before running it, fetches only the parts that changed when it can, and saves a backup of your profile right before installing.
Privacy by default
What you type goes only to the search engine you chose, never from a private window or Tor tab. The New Tab weather no longer looks you up by IP, setup has a Privacy choices step, and the startup update check can be turned off.
A page’s question stays in its tab
An alert, confirm or prompt from a page or a sidebar panel now shows over that tab only, instead of freezing the whole window — and if the window ever stops answering, Vex offers to reload it.
